Drowning Prevention Week

National Drowning Prevention Week (July 19-25) is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of water safety and drowning prevention. Throughout the week, communities across Elgin County will come together for flag raisings, free public swims, and educational events that encourage safe water practices for people of all ages.

Everyone has a role to play in preventing drowning. Whether you’re brushing up on water safety knowledge, attending a community event, or enjoying a free swim, your participation helps build a safer community. Join us in recognizing National Drowning Prevention Week and helping spread the message that water safety saves lives.

I Have Resolve Foundation

The I Have Resolve Foundation provides awareness, education, and works in support of inclusion for anyone who faces a physical, social, developmental, or learning challenge. They focus on education, well-being, and supporting inclusion opportunities for individuals, families, organizations, schools, and communities to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.

Their goal is to promote shared opportunities to bridge the gap between those with and those without disabilities. They are committed to increasing the quality of social interaction, work to reduce isolation for those with disabilities, as well as focus on inclusion learning for all.

Great-EST Needs Fund

The Great-EST Needs Fund is now open! Based on consultations with community leaders, our grant focus for 2026 will be on three areas: youth mental health (focused on ages 14 to 29), addiction & substance abuse, and food insecurity & poverty. Let’s create an impact in Elgin-St. Thomas and apply for a grant today!

This fund addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing the Elgin-St. Thomas community. Our current priority areas include food insecurity, poverty, housing stability, mental health, public safety, and addiction. With your help, we can support community-driven innovative approaches that support lasting change.
